Check out the photo. It shows the vast amount of space right next to I-10 available for a new City Hall.
It would be much easier for citizens to take the bus or go by car to Read Road than it is now to try to find a spot near the current City Hall.
And, with the huge amount of space in New Orleans East, parking for visitors could be FREE.

I understand there is a move afoot to move City Hall into the Municipal Auditorium.

I’ve never understood why City Hall has to be in the middle of some of the most expensive real estate in New Orleans.
City Hall would have much better access on the old Plaza site in New Orleans East. Easy access via bus and lots and lots of
parking which could be free. Imagine free and easy parking to go to City Hall.

And, visitors driving in on I-10 would see a nice new facility instead of the miles of blight next to I-10.
The City should take over the blighted Plaza site and the other blighted properties along I-10 and help all of us and especially New Orleans East by building a nice new complex for City Hall out there.

And, multiple departments could be combined in New Orleans East freeing up valuable land all around downtown that could be leased or sold to spur economic development downtown.
(Moving the horrific Department of Public Works site just off Tulane Avenue would definitely help that area)
